Autobiography Chapter 13: Softly Say I Have No Intimate Friends In The Circle

Outsiders always think that I'm a really hard person to get along with. Actually, outside the circle and inside the circle I have a lot of intimate friends. It's just that I think I don't have to explain myself to anyone.

My friends outside the circle are all classmates from my boarding school in Canada from the past. We are still in contact through the phone now. We all grew up lodging in the school. I lived with a couple of friends for 7 years. Till now we have known each other for nearly 10 years. Our relationship is of course very deep. But to tell you the truth, I hardly ever call them. Because they live in Boston, Los Angeles, New York, Canada, I don't know how to accommodate myself to the time difference. And they already concluded that I'm a person who doesn't need sleep. That's why it is mostly them calling me at anytime anyplace. And it has sometimes happened before when they call me at 4am, I was just sleeping.

These bunch of classmates are not curious about my work in the entertainment circle. Normally when I chat with them we chat about each other's day-to-day activities, what we are playing. I'm not that kind of person who calls them to complain of injustices when some unhappy things happen to me. We already don't see each other much, if we only complain every time, friends will get bored.

As for my friends in the circle, there are too many to count. It is not that I need to show off, but it is because I value their friendship, that's why I want to talk a bit about my feelings towards them. Eason Chan, Stephen Fung, Sam Lee, Chilam Cheung, Edmond Leung, Ronald Cheng, Andy Hui, Ekin Cheng, Sammi Cheng, William So, Miriam Yeung, Karen Mo, Kristy Yang, Gigi Leung, Lam Hiu Fung.....too many too many, they are very good to me.

Among them, I am most in contact with Stephen, Sam and Eason. Picking up a guitar I will want to find Stephen, want to ride a motorbike I will find Sam, want to talk about my worries I will find Eason. Eason is the most understandable person. I will tell him a lot of my things to him, because I believe in him. I often tell others, in fact Eason is my secret "girlfriend", we have already been engaged! To tell you the truth, Eason is a good man who is warm and sincere to people, has dreams, has a loving heart, kind-hearted and upright and honest. I don't know how, me and him very naturally got on together. Maybe it's fate.

As for Stephen, he is a very independent individual. If you don't know him very well, you will think he has a bad attitude and very hard to approach. But actually being with him you can catch a lot of happiness. He will make use of his natural gift of humour to make the others around constantly happy and laughing. And the area me and him are most combined, is the dreams towards music.

Being able to become good friends with Sam Lee, the reason was because we are both very mad, we like to play. Apart from playing, when he's unhappy he will pour out his heart to me. He is full of warmth and sincerity towards film, don't look at his far out outward appearance and dressing. In fact his character is very easy going. Also he's very genuine like a little boy. Even though he is older than me by 4 years, but I feel he still childishly hopes he stays in childhood. I also hope he can do it. Otherwise when he grows up he will fade. Watching him when he walks he's looks naughty and he doesn't care about how others think. Then you know this is the real Sam Lee.

Maybe me and them are the same type of people, so that's how we became buddies. In fact making friends in the entertainment circle is not hard, it's those people who always hold the attitude of seeing others in the same industry as enemies, when the others come over they close themselves off, I'll ask a question in return, how are the others going to be friends with you? You only have to bring out your sincerity and it won't be hard to make friends.

Like Andy Hui, Sammi have today's position, they will definitely not be arrogant to juniors like me. William So loves us dearly. He doesn't have any airs at all, I call him uncle, Ekin is like my good older brother, he often points things out to me. He once said to me: "Don't hold it too tightly, you need to take it easy." Till now I still keep it in my heart. Miriam is a female friend I quite like, because she is straightforward enough. She doesn't like to act like a spoilt child. She is generous, easy going and a tomboy. She can easily match different types of people. She is very friendly with a lot of people.

I feel that I am very blessed, a lot of people love me dearly, this "little child". And not because of my parents, They don't even know my parents, they don't have to give me respect.
