Autobiography Chapter 3: I had my first fight for my sister

31 December 1995

When I was in Canada, because my parents needed to work, the responsibility of looking after me went to Nancy. She was my mother's housekeeper and she had already worked for my mother for over ten years. So my father and mother were not worried to let her look after me and my sister.

When I first got to Canada, nothing extraordinary happened and I didn't get bullied by white boys. Maybe it was because I was still very young, so I could adapt to the environment a bit easier and meet new friends very easily. Even if I had to study at a new school there wasn't anything that I wasn't used to, instead I felt it was very good.

At the start I studied at a public school, I went straight into the second year. After studying for two years I transferred schools. But in these two years, an event happened in one year that I cannot forget.

I remember once when I got punished by the teacher and the reason for being punished was because I had a fight with a schoolmate. And that time was my first time in a fight. The reason for the fight was because that person was bullying my sister, in order to protect my sister I argued with him, afterwards we had a physical fight. But because I had never had a fight before, I didn't know how to measure the weight of punches. The result was that I used ruthlessness without reserving any of my strength to fight with him. That schoolmate later got beaten up so much by me he had a nose bleed, he also lost a tooth and I got punished and taken to see the vice headmaster.

Fourth year, I transferred to a private school to study. That was an orthodox English style school. Everyday I went to school I needed to wear a tie and a uniform. The reason my mother transferred me to another school was because she hoped I could be a real gentleman. But she didn't know doing this would give me a lot of pressure. Traditional English and common spoken English are very different. Even the subjects are different. Due to the fact I never came into contact with it in the past, plus I had loads of homework to do everyday so it was very hard to catch up in many places to the school's schedule. So there were problems one after another when studying.

From fourth year to the ninth year I studied at this school. I have studied for a total of 6 years. At the beginning I really didn't like this school, until the sixth year when I went into the school's lodge. I couldn't have thought that this would make me fall in love with the life of lodging.
