Recently there have been rumours that Nicholas Tse implied to friends that after leaving EEG he will announce his retirement from the entertainment circle. A few days ago he faced the media wanting confirmation, Nicholas Tse calmly said: "I'm not retiring from the entertainment circle, just withdrawing from the music industry, I've already decided now not to release any more records. If I leave EEG, I will rest for about 1 to half a year and not do anything."

Nicholas Tse signed a 10 year contract with EEG when he was 15, afterwards an additional 5 years was added to the contract as punishment for returning back to Canada without the company's permission. Now Nicholas Tse is already 29, the long contract should be over soon. There have been rumours the contract officially ends in 2012 but both Nicholas Tse and EEG have refused to reveal the time of the contract's expiration.

Even though the time of his "freedom" is not determined yet, but Nicholas Tse already has some plans. "I've already decided now not to release any more records. Once you enter this circle, it's very hard to leave, I've still got a 10 scripts in hand right now. If I leave EEG, I will rest for a 1 to half a year. I hope to spend more time with my wife and son, Lucas will be going to kindergarten soon. I've been working non-stop for these past few years, I really want to spend more time with them and have a few more kids."

Nicholas Tse was once chosen to be the most influential artist who was born in the 80s, in October this year he will be participating in the 60th Anniversary for the Establishment of New China that's being held at Tiananmen, he will have the army and tanks by his side when he sings which fully shows his position in Mainland China. For him to set his mind to withdrawing from the music industry this time, really is a surprise.

Actually in May this year Nicholas Tse released his Mandarin album "Last", at the time some media stated "Last" would be his last album. Nicholas Tse admitted: "Last does indeed have implications, it is my last album so I put all my effort and thoughts into producing it."

Besides the record market being on the down as a reason, Nicholas Tse also thinks the music industry is not like it used to be. "I think the music industry now doesn't suit me anymore, I cannot integrate into it. In the past you had to sell hundreds of thousands of copies to have the right to hold a concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, now some artists just need to have one popular song on an album and the next day they can announce they are holding a concert at the Hong Kong Coliseum, they celebrate an album selling ten thousand. If MJ didn't die, the youths might not even know that this big star existed, they only know what real music and classics are after he died. This is a case of putting the cart before the horse, I cannot live in this music industry."

Nicholas Tse expressed: Even though he is not releasing records, but he will still perform onstage and he won't stop singing. "I perform onstage every week in Mainland China, this is my main source of income, it's not easy maintaining this family, I'm just not releasing records, when I rest for a year I will come back to only film movies."

Towards her son's decision, Deborah Lee smiled saying: "Whatever he does, I will support him. To be frank, he's been working hard for so many years, he doesn't have a good bone left in his body, some doctors have warned me to not let him continue on! For him to battle his way to this position, you can all see the results, as his mother, I am proud of him!" As for his sister Jennifer Tse, Nicholas Tse has always hoped to find her a big company willing to put investment into her. There has been news stating, Jennifer Tse has already signed with Wong Jing with the agreement of Nicholas Tse.
