Besides being busy with the National celebration, Nicholas Tse has been filming the movie "Hot Summer Days" directed by Wing Shya. Nicholas Tse has always wanted to give Lucas a little brother or sister but he simply doesn't have time, instead he has a new idea - he plans to move his family to Mainland China and let his son get into more contact with Chinese culture, this will make up for the biggest regret of his life.
When reporters went to Sai Kung to visit the set, Nicholas Tse talked about his son Lucas again. He said proudly: "I really don't know how a two year old child can know how to use all the remote controls in the house and when he gets in the swimming pool he puts on a life jacket. Every morning he gets up, the first thing he does is come into my room and give me a kiss, he says good morning and then he goes off to play, he really is mature! He also knows how to get soda from the icebox for me to drink." In the words of Nicholas Tse, Lucas is very obedient but he also has his stubborn side: "Sometimes he will be naughty, he likes arguing with his mother, but when he sees me he is very honest. I don't want to bring him up with a bad habit so I don't spoil him, I bring out the prestige of a father and I will shout at him."
Originally Lucas was planning to enter kindergarten, but Nicholas Tse has had a new idea: "I'm preparing to move to Mainland China, right now I'm looking into a suitable school for Lucas. Actually a lot of famous people in Hong Kong have kids who study in Mainland China, but no matter what nationality you are, if you don't understand Mandarin you are finished. A lot of foreigners can speak fluent Mandarin, but amongst the people I know, there's still a lot who don't know how to speak it. In these past few years I've take on a lot of Mainland China jobs, it's more or less because my Mandarin is okay. I hope that Lucas not only knows how to speak Mandarin but also learn about Chinese culture, and study in Mainland China."
Nicholas Tse didn't even finish year 1 of primary school and he moved to Canada, so he hasn't been taught a lot of Chinese. "There are a lot of Chinese words I can't read, I have to get my mother to read them to me. But afterwards I worked hard to learn Mandarin and Chinese words. Not understanding Chinese culture is my biggest regret, so I hope Lucas can help me make up for this regret."
As to which city he will choose, Nicholas Tse is still considering. "Actually besides hoping my son will understand Chinese culture, living in Mainland China has many benefits. I'm often working in Mainland China, sometimes filming movies or TV series, I stay here for a long time, if my family is in Shanghai or Beijing, I can get home in about an hour if I was working in Hengdian. I hope that my wife and son can be by my side, my wife won't have any objection no matter where I choose." Well which place do you like? "I actually like the West Lake in Hangzhou, the scenery there is really good. Usually I don't like going out, but in Hangzhou I like going around."
Before Nicholas Tse bought a luxury apartment in Hong Kong which rose in price from 1 hundred million to 1.5 hundred million, yet he hasn't sold it. "I won't sell this apartment, I really like the surroundings there, even if I moved to Mainland China, I will still keep this apartment, if I have time I will come back to Hong Kong to live for a bit. But I am indeed preparing to move to Mainland China, the apartments in Mainland China are actually more expensive than in Hong Kong, especially in Hangzhou."
Talking about his wife Cecilia Cheung, Nicholas Tse expressed that there is little chance of her making a comeback. "Bringing up children is a mother's biggest job, this is also something she wants to do. She really enjoys her life right now, as her husband, no matter what she does I will support her. Perhaps some people will think we are sacrificing too much for the sake of our son, but I think giving up a career for our son is the right thing to do. We really want to have another one, but you can't just say that and it'll happen. I have too much work, next month I have 7 performances already penned in, there are many more still in discussions. "The Beast Stalker 2" is starting soon; at the end of October "Here Comes Kang Xi" are inviting me on, on that day I have to attend a lecture at the arts centre, I won't make the flight, the main organisers hired a whole plane to take me over - come on I'm not going to have time to have another one?!"
